About Remington 870 Stock And Forearm in Q&A
remington 870 stock replacement? can i put a "youth" stock and forearm on a stock 12 gauge? The deal is is that I am going to be purchasing an adult size gun, but i'd like the stock a couple of inches shorter. i was hoping to replace the base stock with a youth.

acmeraven replied: "Don't see why not. I bought an 870 that had been shortened; all I did was buy an aftermarket pistolgrip style and replace it. Check with a gunsmith and see if a used youth length model is sitting around gathering dust?"

bryceadamprescott replied: "Yes that is possible. You can also remove the butt pad and saw off a few inches, drill a few hole, and reattach the butt pad. The youth gun version of the 870 and the 870 have no mechanical differences."

mitchellfrank15 replied: "First of all...are you american or canadian? Canada as stringent firearms laws, shortening a firearm might make it concealable which would get you into trouble if you are stopped by the police. If American see if its legal in your state to put a combat grips on it to shorten it. But again check with your local laws first I would not want you to get into trouble."

eddieroachr replied: "sure probly in a syn. tu edie"

dca2003311@yahoo.com replied: "Have a Gunsmith cut it down and install a Limb-saver recoil pad on it because it reduces the recoil by 50%.* Its a lot more comfortable to shoot with that recoil pad on it.*"

Mark replied: "Yes, you certainly can put a youth stock on any Remington 870 shotgun. Do NOT alter the full sized stock by cutting it down to "youth" size. Buy the proper youth stock and then switch it out. Put the full sized stock away somewhere where it won't get damaged and save it for when you get older, then when the time comes, you can simply switch the youth stock for the full sized one. The cost for a gunsmith to alter the full sized stock for you is higher than the cost of a factory youth stock. You would then have to buy a full sized stock later to replace the altered stock. It's more cost effective to buy the proper youth sized one and make the switch later. If you are a person of small stature and need the shorter stock to make the shotgun fit you properly then just sell the full sized stock to offset the cost of the replacement youth model. Good luck and good shooting -"

Winchester 1200 20 gauge stock and forearm? I am looking to replace my forearm and butstock. I was told that the winchester 1200 20 gauge and the remington 870 had interchangeable forearm and stock is this true? I also can't find replacement winchester stock and forearm for less than $150. If someone is looking to get rid of a set please let me know!!

akluis replied: "i would be very suprised if winchester 1200 and remington had interchangable stocks. check gunbroker.com or auctionarms.com "

jlowes12345 replied: "unfortunately winchesters arent made any more. might be best to buy a new shotgun unless your forearm and buttstock are still in useable condition. usually they last for forever."

what is a good price for a 3'' 12 gauge 870 express with synthetic stock and forearm? pump action shotgun.. made by remington.

Price of a Used Remington 870? A friend of mine just got a new Benelli, and now he wants to sell his 870. It would come with the original wood stock and forearm, a full length pistol grip stock with forearm, mag extension, 20" and 26" barrels, and side saddle shell holder. It is in used condition with noticeable wearing, but we went shooting together last weekend and it functions just fine. What would be a reasonable offer to make him? I just called him to find what kind of 870 it is, and he said its a Wingmaster model.

Terry E replied: "175"

suprasteve replied: "based on all the stuff it's got, I'd say $250 at the most, but I wouldn't pay that much personally..."

hunt_coyotes replied: "great gun it will last forever"

C_F_45 replied: "To see what 870's in similar condition are selling for, check both Gunbroker.com and GunsAmerica.com The Wingmaster is the premium version, the Express is the "value" model. You could also get an estimate from the Blue Book of Gun Values >Thumb through one at Walmart"
