Which would have the best sound overall when it came to Kicker 6930's and the Polk Audio's db691 ? These are two be paired with polk db6501 front door component and a subwoofer (maybe). I mean the Kicker KS6930's ...

Kyle replied: "The Polks anyday, Polk audio has always been known for amazing performance when it comes to car or home audio. Kicker is overrated."

which is the best Polk or Jbl? hai which has more clarity in bass, mid, treble. Is it Polk db691 or Infinity Ref 9633i, both comes in the same category.Thank You.

ArC replied: "Polk db691 is the best."

WHICH IS THE BEST POLK OR INFINITY? hai which has more clarity in bass, mid, treble. Is it Polk db691 or Infinity Ref 9633i, both comes in the same category.Thank You.

odinsragess replied: "Sorry, its a matter of opinion. Both speakers are good quality and sound great. You cant go wrong with either one. Someone may answer with an opinion, like me, i prefer the polk over the infinity reference line."

Natasha replied: "i have personally owned a set of Polk speakers from the db line, and have now upgraded to Infinity Kappas. the difference is huge, the sound quality of the Kappas is amazing compared to the Polks. so if you have the extra $20-50, get some Kappas over either of those. but if not, then just go with the db's becuase they are alright from my experience, i never had any problems with them"

georgewillings replied: "Natasha, the Kappa's are Infinity's top end speaker, the DB691 is not Polk's top end speaker at all. So you can not compare these to speakers at all. You can compare the Kappa's to Elemental Designs e9.65i, which the e9.65i will blow the Kappa's out of the water with ease. As for the which is better, only person that can tell you that answer is you. Me personally I would go with the Polk speakers, since I do not like metal dome tweets as they are harsh to my ears I would go with the Polk speakers."

Running aftermarket speakers off an aftermarket head unit? I am going to be upgrading my car audio system and am going with Polk DB6501 and DB691...They are both rated at 100 RMS watts...To save some money I want to try running them off my Pioneer deck which would push 18 RMS x 4 and 50 RMS x 4...Would this sound halfway decent or should I go with an amplifier? Also is there anything I need to do to hook the speakers up to the aftermarket head unit or will it just automatically be connected... Thanks

Demo replied: "Well the 50x4 is a max rating which is bs So basicly those speakers are gonna get around 25 watts to each channel, You would definitely want a 4 channel amp Id go with an Eclipse or a Kicker, pretty good names For probably PERFECT power go with 75x4 rms, cause youd hit right around 100rms, but a bit lower, which is where you want to be Good luck"

dude replied: "Those speakers are fairly efficient, so you may be okay with just your head unit. Then again, they are really nice speakers to be running off of a head unit. You can always start that way, and just add the amp later if you want. The db6501s are components right? You will need to wire the speaker wires from your Pioneer to the crossovers, and then wire the mids and tweeters from there. It's not nearly as easy as coaxial speakers, but not complicated either. Do you know where you are going to put the tweeters? If you don't have factory locations for them, I recommend the kick panels by your feet. But test different locations by hooking them up and moving them around before you choose a location. You might also need to adjust the tweeter level in the crossover (I'm assuming they are adjustable)."

ckostura replied: "you should amp them... you can buy a 50w rmsx4 amplifier and it will still sound better then the 50xrmsx4 amp in the headunit, an external amp is built with better interior parts."

kewlboxer2 replied: "i have the 6501 in my car. i have them hooked to an alpine amp 100x2. and they sound great. as long as you have the crossovers set right on the amp you will be fine."

Kevy replied: "GET A AMP! I have a pioneer head and that 50w x 4 is more like 15w x 4."

Tim .KENWOOD. replied: "amp then"

Is it worth it to get subs in my 07 Jeep grand cherokee with a stock deck? I recently got my stock speakers removed at circuit city and put in 6 by 5 and 6 by 9 polk db651 and db691. I am not sure if getting a line converter for my stock deck and adding subs will sound as good as a system with a aftermarket deck

lil krandle replied: "Your system will sound a lot better with an aftermarket deck without a doubt. It will put out a little more power and is nice to have in the car. They come cheap to expensive, so a total of around $100 for a decent kenwood with harness and fitting will be the total cost. Onlinecarstereo.com is a great site to look for things. Having an SUV is the greatest achievement if you want subwoofers. More bass and it is a lot better than a car hands down. Get a deck, and then get a nice subwoofer and amp and you're all set!"

myquicksti replied: "in my opinion your stock deck is doing the trick.cd player /xm/ and plenty of fm am options as well as being appealing the way it looks i would use an amp that allows for low level inputs .you can borrow the signal sent to one of your speakers .an input to your amp that will power a sub located in your cargo area this method is cost effective for adding some bass to a stock stereo which appears low key.
Robert B replied: "it will not sound as good and if the radio dose not have amp hook ups then you cant do it at all i mean you can splice the wires but it will not sound good at all and i wouldnt got with polk anyways"

what would be the best amp to power my interior polk db 651 and db 691 door and rear speakers.? im trying to get an amp for my interior speakers (the db651 and the Db691) I DONT KNOW WHAT AMP TA GET if you know of sumthin cheap but good lemme kno

muchspl2k4 replied: "Really any "Brand Name" four channel amplifier would work.. Nothing from Wal-Mart, but Best Buy should carry something decent, or go to your local car audio shop, and they can probably hook you up decently. Look for something around 50 watts x 4 channels RMS.. not MAX. Max would probably be like a 500 watt amp. Kicker ZX350.4 would probably work decent."

RPM replied: "This combination always causes an interesting question because the db651's have a 60W RMS rating and the db691's have a 100W RMS rating. I like to go 70-75W RMS x 4, personally. Seems to be the good compromise point if you'd rather not have two 2-channel amps. Should be able to find plenty of 300/4 amps on the market - just try and select one from a reputable car audio brand."

Will these subs be ok with my alternator? I own a 06 tiburon se and i have a 400 watt amp running to my 6 1/2 type r components and polk db691 s. I am thinkin about puttin in two type r 10" subs run by an alpine PDX-1.1000 amp. Im also thinkin bout puttin in some neons or some type of lights quite possibly. Now my question is would i have any problems with the alternator or battery? I really dont know too much about how this all works.. I believe my car has a 120 amp alternator. so now would i take 1400W/12V and get 116.67 amps going just to the sound system? which would probably be way too much with everything else.. Is that correct? or how would i figure out if my alternator could take it cause i dont wanna buy the subs and then find out somethin wont work. any sort of information would be greatly appreciated As for the capacitor. i have heard bad things about those... wouldnt it just drain my battery?

deepa replied: "all you have to do is purchase a capasitor. the capasitior will not let your battery drain. it will take care of your power for the subs."

My Final Car Audio System and Your Views/Decisions? OK, Now I'm starting from scratch after selling my older subs and I need some feedback... Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P400UB or DEH-P500UB Amp/Amps: Kicker ZX1500.1 (1500 RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms) + Alpine MRP-F450 (70-75 RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms) Speakers: Polk DB6501 Component System (100RMS) Polk DB691 (100RMS) Subwoofers: Kicker L7s (1500RMS), Kicker CVX (1500RMS), or Kicker L5s (1200RMS)--I know If I get these I will need a less powerful mono amp So How do you think this setup will sound... Its a step up from the 2600 model pioneer head unit with the stock speakers with 2 Kicker CompVRs running off an Alpine MRP-M850 pushing them at 400RMS watts @ 2 ohms --its a perfect match Just let me know if you think this will be a good setup and any suggestions--This should be louder correct? and I should be able to hear better mids and highs because I am upgrading my factory speakers?? Thanks guys...I believe its a pretty good setup but which of those subs should i get--or any new suggestions

RPM replied: "If you already have the sub amp, I would completely disregard the L5's. Between the L7's and the CVX's the question is do you like a square or circular sub? Maybe another thing to throw out there is the L7's are proven ... where the CVX's are still relatively new. Hard to tell how they'll hold up in the long run. Considering how much bass you're looking at here, you have to ask yourself will the higher end of your tonal spectrum hold up with 70W x 4. I have the Polks all the way around in my car running off of 75 x 4, but I'm running 500W to my subs. For me, that's good balance. Since you've elected to mention an Alpine amp, I might suggest a MRP-F600. There's no right or wrong here, but just something to think about."

help me pick out an amp for my car plz!!? i bought an alpine ida-x200 head unit, Polk audio db521 for the front door speakers and Polk audio db691......i can tell just by hearing them i need an amp..... I've been studying the world of amps and came up with nothing.....what do you think would be the best amp for this set up? i'm willing to spend $300 at the most.

wooferman replied: "Email me so I can help you. Are they 4 ohm? What is rms?"

lenz replied: "i think this answer your question.... here you go dude hopefully i could help.... godblezz` gudluck'"

rd audio amp 55.4AB, YAY or nay? i was told that this amp would be perfect for my setup.....i have never heard of this brand before so i want to hear any opinion you have.....my setup is: i have: Front: polk audio db521 Rear: Polk Audio db691 Head Unit: Alpine ida-x200

Quentin K replied: "The RD Audio amps and subs are AWESOME! That amp would work perfect with your speakers. I would HIGHLY recommend the RD line for your needs. That amp is very clean and has great sound quality. I bought 2 Alpha 15, RD 3250.1, and a 55.4 myself from Kevin who works for RD and owns Low-hz.com. Fast shipping and great service. You can email him at:"

georgewillings replied: "Have not heard of them, wish I did after googleing them. I checked out the specs on your amp. That THD of 0.05% is great, efficient little bastard that amp is. You will get every bit of wattage that they say you will get from it, if not more."
