honey replied: "i used clomid. I think your loss of drive would be more stress related, and because their is such pressure to perform on the right day, etc.....
Try to focus less on conceiving (easier siad than done... I know), and go out for a date, romantic dinner, then a massage at home, etc....and try to get in the mood just like the old days before this pressure was there.......Stress is a well documented contributor to loss of drive and difficulty conceiving.......
Whilst it could be medical, i reckon it's more likely to be emotional/mental...........
Good luck."
Mrs. Z replied: "OMG, yes! I can totally relate. I did 5 rounds of provera & clomid and I too have PCOS. My hubby felt it too. It puts a lot of pressure on because you lose some of the spontaneity of sex, with all the calendars, tests, timing, etc. I realized later also that part of it was not wanting to get my hopes up again every round we tried only to have it not turn out the way I wanted.
Take breath, both you and your man, and realize that it's a mere few days out of the whole month and it won't ALWAYS be that way. What you're doing is special, and you should realize sex doesn't have to be blah.... Use this opportunity to shake things up...I mean, you already know you'll be having sex, right???"
PCOS, Clomid + Metformin? I have had PCOS since i was 16. I am now ttc #1. I am going to the doctor next week and I was thinking about asking about Metformin and Clomid combination. Are there any success stories out there? If so how long did it take to conceive. I am so excited about going to the doctor but before I go I would like to know how long it takes and if the combo really works. Thanks in advance
bex replied: "i too was diagnosed at 16, i went to the doctors around september time as we are ttc, the doctor wont prescribe anything they refer you to the hospital, i had lots of blood tests at different stages of my cycle, had an internal scan of my ovaries and also dye injected to make sure they wernt blocked, and also my partner had to give a sample which didnt please him very much lol. just before christmas i went back to the hospital for all he results and everything was fine just the pcos still there, so i was prescribed clomid which i have started on tuesday and am so excited!! so when you go to the docs id expect it to be a good 3 months before the gynea will give you the medication, as you have to go through the other tests to rule everything else out first., i wish you luck x"
PCOS, clomid, metformin? hi
i have pcos,i took clomid-50, metformin - 500 9 1 daily)
today is 15 day. OPK is still -ve.
any similar case? please help
Is this the case that I need to increase metformin 1 daily to 3 times a day ?
I am really worried and frustrated,
How I am missing surge, I am checking everyday same time in evening at about 6pm ? sometimes i checked 2 times too.
What could be other reason for not ovulating.
Should i continue to take it in next month too ?
Tears replied: "It takes time for some and different doses. I got lucky I took metformin-800 for months in different doses and then took clomid-50 and I got pregnant month 2. I was told it could take 6 months just to kick in a good dose. So keep your head up.
Good luck!"
maebj replied: "I am currently on Metformin 1,000 2x daily. I am also taking Provera to start my period. Then will be moving on to Chlomid."
StarMummy replied: "hi, I too have PCOS and on metformin -1500 (3x500 daily) and took clomid-50 on days 3-7. last month I took clomid on days 5-9 and ovulated day 16 (positive opk and progesterone bloodtest confirmed it), this cycle however it looks like I ovulated on day13, but I somehow missed it with OPK (I'm 110% sure I ovulated on CD13), there could be a few reasons you haven't gotten a postive OPK yet, 1 is maybe you missed your LH surge and just missed it with OPK, or of course maybe you haven't ovulated yet, What days did you take the clomid? you should ovulate 5-9 days after taking the last clomid tablet. Of course it is unfortunately possible that it didn't work for you this time and your dose might have to be upped, there's also a slight possibility that the OPK test was faulty and some women don't even show on a OPK even when they do test on right days etc and do ovulate. Keep pn BD'ing so hopefully you won't miss your window to conceive.
Another suggestion is chart your temps using BBT that is much more reliable to see what your doing throughout your cycle, FertilityFriend.com is a great site for this. Hope this helps."
Sam replied: "I can know exactle how you are feeling. I also have pcos, I just found out two months ago when i started fertility treatment. Last month i did all the blood works, had and hsg (tubes checked) all the ulrasounds, internal and regular. BUt i didnt ovulate.
So this month so far I have taken provera for 10 days now, and now i am waiting for my period, then the doctor will probably prescribe clomid from day 3-7 or something like that.
I am also taking metfromin 3 times daily, along with my prenatals and folic acid as well.
Dont worry hang in there, it just takes a cycle or two sometimes, It will happen!! Continue taking metfromin, it can increase chances of periods returning to normal and ovulating on your own. Also take your multi vitamins and folic acid, It all counts.
May be this time your doctor will increase you dose of clomid and it will work, I have heard many people tell me that when they had an increased dose of clomid, it worked. Best Of Luck."

mskissty1 replied: "I am also a PCOSer my doctor put me on metformin and it made me sick. This is not typical for most people that take it so at least try it. Once my doctor stopped the metformin my cycle would not come. She gave me provera to kick it off and Clomid to follow it up. I got pregnant the first cycle.. i hope this helps"
TTC#1 W/ PCOS replied: "the first lady have a success story but I don't, because I am still trying.
Its good that your going to your dr and your going to ask him about the combination, but some dr wouldn't give you clomid that quick, sometimes they'll start you out on metformin alone to get your cycle back normal if its ireguler. Metformin does get some ladies sick but you must give it a week or so to get your body use to the pill, try eating healthy and excersing to help increase your chances of conceiving real quickly. Start taking multivitamins if your not now and folic acid."
Just a small town girl replied: "I just asked a similar question yesterday! I put it in the Pregnancy category to see what they would say. You can check out the last few questions I have posted, in my profile, if you have any questions or if I leave anything out!!
I went to the doctor this week a couple of times. The first time to get an annual check up. They confirmed last year that I had Polycystic Ovaries, but I wasn't insulin resistant, and wasn't TTC yet, so no meds. This time, when have been trying since our miscarriage last August. Well, they decided to test me again on Tuesday and discovered I was insulin resistant. She started me on Metformin today and Clomid my next cycle (should be Feb. 8th). Like you, I am somewhat excited, not because I have PCOS or because I have to take meds. I guess it is because I finally have a game plan, instead of just trying and trying and trying. I know it may not be successful, but at least there is something else I can try to do, since what we have been doing obviously isn't working!!
All this to say, sounds like we are in the same boat! Lots of luck to you and please keep us updated!!!
Lots and lots of baby dust!!!"

CassAnn replied: "It sounds like your Dr has you on the right track to start out. PCOS is a gamble and every woman is different, so dont be too surprised if your treatment regimen changes along the way. I know women who have conceived their very first cycle of treatment, and then others who took a while and treatment changes before they got there. Good Luck!"
Wilmadeene replied: "This sounds very similar to what I did with my younger daughter. Yep, pcos too. I did get some cheap ovulation test strips online though (had multiples of more than 5 per kit, and even a few pg tests too!), rather than dong the BCP, I have endo too. It took two cycles of this to conceive my younger daughter.
Good luck!"
Face T replied: "Have you given metformin alone a try? For us, that was very successful in regulating cycle, ovulating again, and got pregnant with metformin alone.
With respect to your six steps, looks okay but do have couple of observations:
Step 2 sounds unnecessary (could have gone directly to clomid after the first provera use).
Step 3, can take Provera much earlier (a few days before period) rather than waiting for period to show up. Don't be surprised if you have periods restart again around day 5 (after finishing Provera).
The dosage of clomid is fine for initial cycle. Based on how it goes, the doctor may increase it. Ideally, you also want to have ultrasounds around day 10 to see how is it going (what sizes are follicles), as well as monitored to see when and if LH spike happens - you can use OPKs for this.
Good luck."
PCOS clomid, metformin and follicles ruptured...when can I have my baby???? please help!!!? I am married for one year. I was diagnosed with PCOS a month ago. My gp put me on clomid for 5 days and metformin for 15 days and in the second scan I was informed that I have good follicles and after few das I had another scan wherein I was informed that my follicles have ruptured. I had contact with my husband that very night and the subsequent night. Could anyone tell me when will I become pregnant....or will I ever!!! these questions are taking my life as I desperately need a baby....Please someone there help me!!!!! please please please.................!!!!!
Tina replied: "You can take a home pregnancy test approximately 2 weeks after your follicles ruptured / ovulation occur. Just remember that even with good eggs, good sperm and perfectly timed intercourse . . . your chances of success are about 20 - 25%. Sometimes it takes couples multiple cycles.
It is great that you are responding to the Clomid and Metformin but don't lose hope if it does not occur on the first cycle. Keep working with your doctors and keep at it.
Good luck and baby dust!"
Lufna replied: "Hai,your gp is right, you follow tablets, dont worry, you should intake the medicines at correct interval.important is you should intercourse with both of your involvement, not just for baby.
i also had this problem,i was wait for9 months and i get pregnant.now i had 1year baby."
Face T replied: "Where you trying before the follicles ruptured. It is important to try BEFORE ovulation rather than after ovulation as the egg may only be available for 12 hours. Follicles rupturing means that you had already ovulated, so depending on when that happened, you might have had a shot that night on getting pregnant (however, chance of conceiving even if timed perfectly is only like 15-20%). It might take up to a year to conceive.
Continue to take metformin throughout your cycle (not just 15 days) if you have PCOS.
Good luck."
Maritza replied: "Hey, get the "Pregnant Miracle"! I highly recommend it!
babyTalk (from the U.S) magazine even wrote an editorial review and recommended this website to TTC (trying to conceive) ladies.
They will teach you on eliminating fertility issues even if you're:
late 30s or 40's
have endometriosis
have tubal obstruction
have ovarian cysts or "lazy ovaries"
without resorting to IVF or IUI procedures or drugs like clomid, fertilid, preseed
After 4 years of frustration trying to conceive, I am now finally 5-weeks pregnant!
The information and recommended herb helped!

PCOS Metformin clomid? I am very hopeful of becoming a mother... it is almost like a dream. i was recently diagnosed with PCOS and my dr put me on Metformin to help me ovulate. He did say however that I would more than likely need to be put on clomid... How long did/does it normally take to become pregnant on these methods with PCOS? Should i still be hopeful or just give up?
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ replied: "Be strong.
Be patient.
Be hopeful and positive.
PCOS is really hard to deal with! I know I have it!
I was diagnosed 10 months ago and have been ttc for about a year now.
Sometimes you feel so hopeless and negative...like it's never going to happen.
But, you just have to take it one day at a time and remember that each appointment / test / procedure / medication / month / cycle is one step closer to conceiving.
I'm on metformin and I think that this is the first month that I have ovulated...EVER in my life!
I have the egg white cervical mucous and got a positive OPK.
I'm going to wait to see if I get my period in a few weeks...if not then I will start taking clomid.
With PCOS it's not a matter of if you get pregnant, it's a matter of finding which treatment works to get you pregnant. This can take ages though!
Best of luck : )"
kriztnah replied: "I also have PCOS, I am 24 years old and have been trying to concieve for over a year. I was put on 850mg of metformin witch I take twice a day I start clomid on cycle day 5-9 for 3 cycles now. I start with 50mg and now I'm at 150mg and my eggs were finally large enough to get an hcg shot to help me ovulate ( that was on Tuesday) I just had my first iui yesterday. I have 3 maybe 4 eggs that will hopefully ferterlize. I take a prgnancy test June 3. I'm super excited bc something finnaly worked and it feels like were soo close. However it's only a 20% chance of concieving through iui, with 3 eggs. That's just about 6% per egg. I hope this helps you out a little, good luck and lots of baby dust to you!!!"
Metformin & Clomid & PCOS? I have PCOS, and have been taking Metformin, and Clomid together. Anyone else with PCOS have success with using the 2, and how long did it take before you became pregnant? I think I've been on the Clomid for about 3-4 months now, and the Metformin for almost a year. This feels like a never-ending journey! !
jenifer_lll replied: "i used to take metformin for 1 months and then i got my BFP"

Metformin/Clomid- PCOS? I have been trying to conceive for over a year with my husband. After going through numerous infertility tests, I was diagnosed with PCOS. My Dr. put me on 500mg of Metformin once a day and 50mg of Clomid on CD 3-8. After reading up on Metformin and dosage information, I saw that the dosages are usually increased each week. This concerns me because I will be on 500mg for a whole month with no increase. I would like to know if anyone has been on Metformin and Clomid at the same time, and if it worked for them and how long it took them to ovulate? Has anyone been on the same dosage as myself for a whole month with no increase?
I was also told to start my Clomid on CD 3-8. Well I thought I had gotten my period today because I had a little flow, then a few hours from then it disappeared and now I have very light spotting. Should I count this as CD 1? All of this is so confusing and frustrating!
honeypot replied: "CD 1 is the first heaviest day of your period.
I am sorry I cant help with your other questions but it might be best to ask your Dr or nurses in the clinic as to why you are on this dose. You should be able to ring the nurses and I am sure they should be able to help if not then make an appt with your Dr
Good luck"
TTC#1 W/ PCOS replied: "yes your dose on Metformin should be increase every week, when ttc you should be up to 1500mg or higher on metformin in order to conceive and as for the combo, Ive read alot of success stories, I am currently taking metformin 2000mg and clomid 100mg on day 5-9.
CD1 begans when there is dark red af presents not spots"
