How long does accutane take until I see improvements? Hi I've been on accutane for 2 months now and have broken out worse than I was and wanted to know how long would It take befor I start seeing improvements? Thank you to all of you who took the time to answer this question.
Nef replied: "Well, this is the perfect question for me!
I've a long time experience with it.
Okay, it depends on how bad ur acne is, mine was pretty bad.
usually the first month or two it gets much much worse! but then it goes back to normal, u might see "some" improvements after 4-6 months.
Tips:
Accutane will make your skin very sensitive, and verrry very dry, that's why you need extra care now,
Drink lots and lots of water,
Moisturize all the time, especially before sleeping or you'll regret it in the morning,
Always use sun protection,
Don't stay long under the sun or you might get sun burnt even if you have darker skin like i do.
Warnings:
because Accutane is a Very strong medicine you should be very careful with it,
you should never use it on your own without a doctor because there's a high chance to seriously damage your liver.
don't lose hope, it takes a lot of time and effort but believe me the result is Sooo Much Worth it!!
Wish you the best and easiest way to clear skin! :)"
Skincare Guru replied: "Unfortunately there is no guarantee with accutane. How quickly it works depends on the individual. It is usually used as a last resort after trying everything else. It is a very strong drug and you cannot use any of the acne treatments such as Glycolic or Salicylic Acids for 6 months after completing the course of accutane. So you will now need to wait before you can use anything on your skin that will be of any effect.

How long does accutane work for? I got off accutane in September. I know its technically supposed to cure acne. I've had great results so far but recently i've had some minor break outs. If anyone has every been on accutane before please tell me how long it kept your skin clear.
Joe replied: "Well I have never used the medication, but I have a doctorate in pharmacy. Accutane does not totally cure acne. You have to keep washing your face with the benzoyl peroxide (desquam-x) and the Retin-A micro.
The accutane will work for quite sometime, but you may even be put back on the medication. I have seen it keep peoples skin clear for 3 months, 4 months, other permanently. Some of my friends did get acne once again after 6 months, but it was no where near as bad as it was before."
How long does accutane take to work? I'm getting put on accutane on Tuesday and I want to know how long it will take to kick in. I've had acne for 3 or 4 years now and I'm sick and tired of it. Any tips would be appreciated! Thank ya!
kelly e replied: "Although acne may get worse within the first month of Accutane use, the ultimate results are usually dramatic. Accutane works to achieve partial or complete clearance of acne in about 95% of people who complete a cycle, regardless of whether they have inflammatory or non-inflammatory acne. The majority of people who take it see their acne effectively cured, experiencing long-term remission of acne symptoms. Studies show an average relapse rate of 25%, and in these cases sometimes a second course is given. This relapse rate is dose-dependent. Patients who receive a cumulative dose of 100-120mg/kg see the best results and lowest relapse rates. Patients who receive a lower dose relapse more frequently. Daily dosage depends on how much the patient weighs;0.5mg - 2mg/kg is typical."
How long does it take for accutane to work? I 've been on accutane for like 2 and a half months now (around 10 weeks) and my acne is only a tiny bit improved but its not a big difference? If you were ever on it, how long did it take to see a large improvement? please help I am getting kind of worried because I want it gone by the start of gr,9.
Matt M replied: "It takes a while. Also are you washing your face properly as well. It doesn't work alone. But trust me it works. You will still get a pimple here and there it just happens. But long term your skin will look 100x better than with out it. It really just depends on how bad your acne is."
How long does it take accutane work? I just started taking it, and tonight I will be taking my 3rd pill. So far, acne is only gettin worse. How long does it usually take to start working?
Guru replied: "There is this new popular cream that people have been talking about.
It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It's been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)
Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.
This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:
Search up "Cee En's Acne Solution" on ebay.
First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can purchase 1 month supply for $40 or 6 month supply for $160
It's expensive, but the product DOES work.
My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.
I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.
check the seller's feedbacks on the cream
I hope this helps. =)"
Isotretinoin (Accutane) - How Long Does It Take to Work? Weight Loss? I was wondering if anyone knows how long this stuff generally takes to work and why some reports say it can cause unwanted weight loss? What would make it do that?
To be fair, I should mention that I ordered it from out of the US so that I would not have to go through the trouble and expense of getting a prescription. I am a female but I have no chance of getting pregnant and I understand it can have serious side effects.
I'm taking 20mg pills - I cut them in half and take a half, twice a day. I'm just not sure how long I should expect to take it and I don't want to take it for too long ...
If you don't know, just don't answer. There is no point in telling me to talk to a doctor. I can't afford it and I'm not going to.
bruce_eel replied: "not sure about the weight loss...i didn't lose any while i was on it. it does dry you out significantly so maybe you lose some water weight...but thats easily remedied by drinking water.
after about a month i noticed my acne was getting better and after 3 months it was completely clear.
the worst side effect in my opinion was my dry lips....i used aquaphor for that...it was a freakin godsend. good luck."
goldwild replied: "I took 30 mg of accutane (once a day) for about 4 months. My dermatologist switched me to 20 mg of accutane (still once a day) about a month and a half ago and while my acne hasn't gone away, it has definitely improved. The acne looked worse for the first month or so but gotten better, slowly.
As for the weight loss, I don't know where those reports came from. My dermatologist told me to eat fatty foods because the pills absorb better with it so I've gained about 5 pounds since being put on the accutane.
You don't have to cut the pill in half. Take it at night and take it for 4-6 months. I've been on accutane for almost 6 months now and I've been told I'll be on it for another month."
Did accutane work for you?? How long does it take? I just finished my second month on accutane and it is mosty just bad bad bad and worse than when i began. i have been in the nice summer sun which i know is bad for skin but i used sunblock which of course helps it. i hear good news is to come, but is there anyone who it didn't work for. i get chapped lips, dry skin, i just don't want to wait anymore, a month or two more until i see results! thanks for the helpful input!!
Nikkie. replied: "Some news for you dear...
Sun is great for clearing up acne.
Sunscreen that isn't oil free and non comdegenic clogs your pores like crazy.
Accutane does cause your skin to get worse before it gets better. After three months it should start getting better, six-eight your skin will be completely clear.
My brother used it, that's how I know."
jeannie replied: "i dont have that bad skin but its really stubborn i went to my dermatologist and tried everything so he finally put me on acutane...i was on it for 7 months!!! and it did nothing for me and this is because he told me there was a 98% chance it works on everyone but dont get discouraged out of all his patients i was the only one it didnt work for :("
Pənny Proud replied: "I heard it gets worse before it gets better, and then you will never have acne again. So I've heard; ALSO that you may not be able to have kids, and some other long-term side effects.
Many beauty products on the market have harmful chemicals in them; do your favorite beauty products contain any of these things?:
* Mineral Oil, Paraffin, and Petrolatum – Petroleum products that coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatologic issues. Slows cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging. Suspected cause of cancer. Disruptive of hormonal activity. By the way, when there’s an oil spill in the ocean, don’t they rush to clean it up – fast? Why put that stuff on your skin?
* Parabens – Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.
* Phenol carbolic acid– Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.
* Propylene glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, and may inhibit skin cell growth or cause skin irritation.
* Acrylamide– Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.
* Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)– Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived
* Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.
* Dioxane– Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”.
Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.
IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and you can substitute virgin/extra virgin olive oil or a natural coconut oil to moisturize in the meantime until you find a better, natural alternative!!! Tell ALL your friends and family!!!"
co-worker replied: "I am currently on accutane. It's been 1 month. I am starting to wonder if my skin will ever clear up. It got worse but now it is getting a little better. It's very clear from the mouth up, but from the mouth down it's bad. I have had every side effect (and I mean EVERY side effect) that is possible. I think it will get better. Hang in there."
How long does it take Accutane to work? How long till you start clearing up? How long till your completely clear?
Some T replied: "a long time. with me after 2 months it was almost completely clear but after that it cleared up very little. It may not completely clear your acne either. I had some pretty good results but i still get little pimples every so often and I finished my treatment less then a year ago. I am sure your doctors went over all the symptoms with you so I won't go over them all. But I remember having very dry skin and a bit of a rash on my arms that went away very quickly with some ointment."
How long does it take to get on accutane? From the doctors initial decision to put you on accutane, how long does it take before you actually start accutane? Can someone whose done it walk me through it? Thanks
Joe M replied: "i would seriously research that and put time and thought before taking it. lots of effects, including long term."
Adam L replied: "2 week or so.
After they decide, they need to give you a blood test after your blood test you need to go back and visit the doctor and get the prescription"
Lil_MiZz _ replied: "A month, you have to wait a month from the date he decides to put you on accutane. There is a 30 day grace period and you have to answer a bunch of questions from iPledge, do a blood test.
If your blood test results are normal and your not pregnant you'll start it, otherwise you have to wait."
Cody replied: "yea def. research that one side affect i believe is death! my friend was on it for months and it only made it worse i would seriosly try something a little milder like washing your face more offten that worked for me try wearing a little less make up also personaly i think the less make up the better! good luck!"
Leann replied: "I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.
I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.
I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.
Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem dotcom at the time which was helpful.
You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.
Well good luck and best wishes."

Incarcerated Bert replied: "I have been on it twice

TeeTop replied: "What's Accutane."
